Chart Check: Britney Spears’ ‘Pretty Girls’ Glides Down Billboard Hot 100

April 25th saw many boast Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea‘s tag team project ‘Pretty Girls’ as the year’s most anxiously awaited release.  Conversely, May 25th is singing a very different tune.

After an impressive #29 debut last week (based on sales alone) ahead of their futuristic music video and highly anticipated Billboard Music Awards performance, fans were sure the inclusion of streaming points and response to the live showing would boost Brit’s latest effort up a few spots on the Hot 100.

They were wrong.

In her defense, she’s in good company.  Joining ‘S&M’ collaborator Rihanna‘s downward dive on the tally, the ladies’ not-so-hot showings on the Hot 100 continue as males – for a change – extend their domination of the charts for yet another week.

Tuck in below to see where Wiz Khalifa, Bruno Mars, Jason Derulo, Fetty Wap, and The Wkend landed to lead the pack of competitors this week:

Nicki Minaj ft. Lil Wayne & Drake – ‘Truffle Butter’ – #46 (#37 last week)

Rihanna, Paul McCartney, & Kanye West – ‘FourFiveSeconds’ – #56 (#45 last week)

Nicki Minaj – ‘The Night Is Still Young’ – #66 (#93 last week)

Ciara – ‘I Bet’ – #71 (#61 last week)

Pitbull ft. Chris Brown – ‘Fun’ – #77 (debut)

Jidenna – ‘Classic Man’ – #80 (#89 last week)

The state of the music industry right now is sad

    • maurice May 25, 2015

majority of the top 20 are mediocre songs with them annoying club beats.
So sad. I remember in 2005, when you had Mariah, Amerie, Ciara, Mario, Cassie all in the top 20 — and whether you liked them or not, you could appreciate the fact that they all produced different kind of sounds.

Everything these days, however, sounds the same.
Amerie slayed my edges with 1 Thing though. I can’t believe it’s been 10 years.

^Crying at AOs tragic chart positions with all that promo.

  3. Molly May 25, 2015

So happy for Ciara and I bet glad the record went gold. Pretty girls was cute for like a week it has no substance so im not surprised.

American Oxygen fell off the charts I see Poor Rih the song had a good message tho.

  4. LB May 25, 2015

Everyone knows Ciara is a lessor and yet her stats,
    – 2 Platinum albums
    – A Grammy award
    – A #1 hit

    Nicki Minaj stats
    – 1 Platinum albums after a year of promo
    – No Grammy after 58438438465436434 features
    – No #1 hit after 5435436434384364364 features

The rag dolls opened this can of worms, now all the tea on just how basic that silicon blow up doll is will be spilled, be ready.

    • Barb B**** May 25, 2015

Lol seethe on. I never knew one comment could make you seethe so much. I may do this more often 😀

    • May 25, 2015

      please go away.

    • Molly May 25, 2015

What’s your issue? the barbz got you seething today.

      • Arianator Barb May 25, 2015

He’s mad that TNISY has already outdone AO, he’s mad that Rih only got 1 top ten and 1 top twenty while Nicki got 2 top tens (going on 3), 3 top twenties this era, he’s mad that TPP era has completely done better than r8 has or will.

    • Nicki is queen!!! May 25, 2015

Lol why do we get you so bothered. When did Ciara’s career start? Nicki THE RAPPER has two platinum albums, don’t bother arguing that & she has three albums in total. Ciara has 6. 2/3 platinum vs 2/6 platinum (from what you’ve said), please try and do the math. She has 1 grammy from a featured track & actually won from the video & not the song lol. We know the Grammys are biased & they have something against Nic too but ok. #1s are relative so that’s a pointless ‘drag’. So you must’ve forgotten to boil the kettle because your tea is ICE cold. ????

      • Dingaz May 26, 2015

correction: nicki only have one platinum album and that is “Pink Friday”, her second album isnt near platinum after 2year+ and pink print int never going platinum cause its hardly even selling anymore

    • Cal3bg June 4, 2015

Minaj has 2 Platinum albums for the record and the debut is damn near double platinum with 1,950,000 sold.

  5. BeyIsKing May 25, 2015

Pretty Girls is a horrid song.. TNISY just got a video and it’s in the second half of the chart….Ciara seems too busy chasing a new man she forgot she released an album

  6. Lmfao_Hoe May 25, 2015

Damn I miss the 90s and early 00s to 05. All the songs on the charts are so f****** boring. Only songs I f*** with are Earned It by the Weekend. There’s no diversity, and ppl stay jumping on features that aren’t even worth s***. Back in the day if ya were gonna collaborate it was the right song and timing of two or three artists ready for SLAYAGE but this chart especially in this modern day is full of s***. I’m surprised ppl buying half of theses songs.

  7. Jewel May 25, 2015

Lol at ‘glides down’. Is anyone surprised though?

  8. LB May 25, 2015

This is so different though, men are rulling the charts and there are so many black artists there (for those who complained last year about black artists not charting).

I guess women aren’t rulling the charts this year. Year of the gents.

    • Jewel May 25, 2015

You’re right. Its definitley not Rihanna.

      • LB May 25, 2015

Well with 13 #1s, I’m glad she is giving lessers a chance to catch up, only it seems like they are failing.

      • Jewel May 25, 2015

        And which lessers are these?

  9. XXX May 25, 2015

The song is awful and does not deserve success anyway.

  10. BLACKOUT TBH May 25, 2015

She won’t be having a lot of big hits for the rest of her Vegas residency. She’s only releasing stuff for the sake of revamping the show so I’m not mad. Hopefully once the Vegas gig is done she’ll get back on the promo wagon. I’m sure her Glu Mobile deal will do wonders for her 9th album promotion. Longevity is a road few know how to walk.

  11. B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare May 25, 2015

They thought combining Britney with that girl would equal a sure fire hit. Nope, it was never going to happen.

Britney should label this a buzz single and prepare us for her real single. It has zero replay value. It is cute a couple of times & then it’s done. It’s alright Brit you can still call Bloodshy & Avant and let them produce the whole album.

  12. Love Life May 25, 2015

NO ONE cares about Britney anymore. She is the definition of expired and dated! No matter who you put on the song with her it won’t change that.

    • Beysus May 26, 2015

No one cares that’s why all the popular media outlets hyped the release of the song?! STFU!

      • Essa May 26, 2015

…it’s also why this song is flopping, like the last handful she put out. Britney is a “name” and has a marketing team, that’s why she gets media coverage. It’s the public who decides to qualify the hype (or not.)

  13. Overdose May 25, 2015

    Shes done.

    • Ashleigh May 25, 2015

      So is Ciara.

  14. Molly May 25, 2015

Lmao LB seems very bothered by the barbz right now? What’s the tea?

    • Barb B**** May 25, 2015

Katy Perry post boo. I just stated a fact and he is mad as s*** lol.

      • Molly May 25, 2015

Lol ooops they’re sensitive and petty.

    • Barb-wire May 25, 2015

Kiii @Barb b****, I need to see this post. The seething is too much.

    • Ashleigh May 25, 2015

Lmao but b**** you’re always dragging the barbz and Nicki. So fake!!

  15. marcusmorismoss May 25, 2015

britney’s dancing in the car wash scene is cringeworthy, iggy’s attempt at acting is razzie award ticket.

  16. Mark111 May 25, 2015

With a video out? That’s not good.

  17. OMG Logic!!! May 25, 2015

Is no one releasing new music? The top ten has had the same artists for all of 2015…

  18. Selenator May 25, 2015

It only dropped one spot lol. I didn’t expect it to go higher either, especially when it has been doing mediocre on radio and iTunes. Streaming will only get you so far. If Brits team really wanted a hit, they’re going to need more than one performance to do the job. I think Iggy should take a break too after she re-launches her tour. Give people time to jump off the “we hate Iggy bandwagon” and accept that there is more than one female rapper on top.

  19. Rosie May 25, 2015

Poor Deadney. Her delusional racist Latin American stans swore she was coming with the song of summer 2k15 only for it to bomb everywhere. They still haven’t realized after Robotney Jean that literally no one cares about her anymore except for them.
Anyways this has been a great year for every genre except for pop/top 40, unfortunately you guys refuse to expand your tastes and look for music outside of the Billboard Hot 100.

    • BLACKOUT TBH May 25, 2015

How far up your own ass are you though? What makes you think we all listen to the same kind of music? Some of my favourite artists include Static-X, Skunk Anansie, the Chemical Brothers, Bjork, Bob Marley, Pearl Jam and Ozzy Osbourne just to name a few. Get off your hipster high horse.

      • Rosie May 25, 2015

        You sound hurt.
Nobody mentioned anyone specifically but it’s true that at least 90% of the people who comment here don’t listen to anything except for pop and R&B.

      • BLACKOUT TBH May 26, 2015

Well I’m not one of those people so it’s not that I’m hurt, I just don’t appreciate the cocky generalisation.

  20. Lake Erie May 25, 2015

I wonder Britney and Iggy collabo do what fancy did? Yal remember “fancy” didn’t exactly sky rocket off. Wasn’t it out months prior before it did?

  21. Barb-wire May 25, 2015

Kiii the f** is pressed for the gawds.

    Anaconda >>> Four Sloppy seconds
Only >>> Bey have my money
Truffle butter >>> The gas song

kiii I’d be mad too if my pop star fave is being outcharted and outsold by a rapper.

    • Lake Erie May 25, 2015

Yes, Especially one who lip syncs, can I get a high on that @Barb-wire?

  22. Barb-wire May 25, 2015

Kiii @Barb b****, I need to see this post. The seething is too much.

  23. Sandra May 25, 2015

Is anyone really surprised? Britney hasn’t had a big selling album since In The Zone in 2003, that’s 12 years ago. Blackout sold 2,5m, Circus 4m, Femme fatale 1,8m and Britney Jean 650,000. None of these are impressive tbh. Britney is not relevant anymore, she lost her album selling powers in 2003 but managed to at least be a singles artist up until 2012. Since then, no… Pretty Girls is a horrible song tbh , not surprised it flopped 😮

    • Lake Erie May 25, 2015

I said they should of went for a different sound. I was excited for the collaboration like everyone else but the sound had been done already and everyone knows it.

  24. Taylor swifts number 1 fan!! May 25, 2015

Taylor’s new song bad blood, should be in the top 10 next week!!

  25. Rihicon May 25, 2015

wow the top 20 is so basic

  26. Casual-T May 25, 2015

Pretty Girls has a great video, and they tried to recapture the magic of Iggy’s Fancy, but it didn’t work b/c the song is just okay. PLUS, and this is a biggie, Britney Spears became a t*** idol in the late 90s, more than 15 years ago. Something about the concept for the song and video didn’t work for a 33 yo woman currently appearing in Vegas. Still, I think her label is at least trying to get a hit for her. They’re going in the right direction, even if Pretty Girls misses the mark a little.

  27. Stephy. May 25, 2015

I love this site. Y’all are too much.

  28. FutureCIARA May 25, 2015

    The Men continue to slay!!!

    • Stephy. May 25, 2015

      Dickks swinging everywhere..

  29. SMH May 25, 2015

LMAO at everyone who swore this would be the song of yhe summer just because iggy azalea is on it.

  30. Liam May 25, 2015

Some people think it flopped cause Iggy is the feature…..plus I saw people requesting a solo version to Brit’s team lol….it’s a cute song I can see it being Top 40 for awhile is gaining more airplay but she’s heading in the right direction tho with the urban/pop sound she usually does

  31. You wanna love it right bettor like you do then my funky money May 25, 2015

Wow wiz k is the number one

  32. Theman May 25, 2015

Lol it slipped one spot. It can still grow. Y’all be wanting people to fail too much. Britney is relevant. This is a seasonal song. Every song doesn’t have to be a deep song. Anything for a few views.

    • Essa May 26, 2015

      “Y’all be?”
      Idiot.

  33. Cal3bg June 4, 2015

I literally cringe on that part of the song where they say “like bees to the honeeey..” And “we just so pretttty..” lol
